What are the hikes like?
The hikes cover a variety of terrain throughout the Santa Monica Mountains and surrounding Malibu beaches. We hike every weekday, rain or shine, and offer an optional extended hike on Saturdays. We encourage participation in the beautiful hikes, however, guests do have the option to stay back at the resort and participate in a fitness class if they choose not to, or are unable to, hike.
Hikes last for about 2 hours and vary in difficulty from completely flat trails to rolling hills to steady inclines. Furthermore, the terrain can vary from a wide fire road to rockier single track trails. No matter your fitness level or goals here at Wellfit, there is a hike for you!
Can I do the hikes?
Yes! No matter your fitness level, our hiking department is flexible enough to find the perfect trail for you. Hiking at Wellfit is not just about finding the toughest trail and getting the best workout. Our hikes are also about using nature to heal our body, mind, and soul.
We want to promote a sense of companionship with nature and with your fellow guests. We choose hike locations where there is something for everyone, whether you want to stop and take pictures, learn about the local plants and wildlife from our hiking guides, or be challenged physically for a great workout…we have it all.
What is the food like?
Guests enjoy delicious cuisine meals daily, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, and snacks. Created by an experienced team of world-class executive chefs and registered dietitians, each delicious, calorie-controlled meal features top quality ingredients, in just the right nutritious balance of proteins, carbohydrates and healthy fats. The menu is tailored to provide the body and mind the nutrition it needs for physical and mental challenges throughout your stay at Wellfit Malibu. All menu options can be fully customized for allergies and other dietary restrictions.
Here are some examples of items you may see on the menu:
- Breakfast: scrambled eggs with toast and avocado, protein smoothie, oatmeal with nuts and berries, yogurt parfait
- Lunch: turkey cobb salad, lettuce-wrapped sirloin burger, chicken tostadas, shrimp fajitas
- Dinner: grilled salmon with quinoa risotto, stuffed chicken breast with spaghetti squash, vegetable lasagna, margarita steak with black beans and veggies
- Desserts: chocolate covered strawberries, apple cobbler, fruit compote, key lime pie
- Snacks: peanut butter and apple, orange and almonds, hard-boiled eggs, protein smoothie
There is an open salad bar at lunch and dinner every day and extra veggies are available upon request.
Please note that we do not serve coffee (or other caffeinate beverages), carbonated beverages (including “diet” sodas), or alcohol at the resort.
What if I don't like the food being served?
We have a delicious selection of meal substitution items to choose from should you not like something on the regular menu.
How many calories will I be eating a day?
Daily intake will be an average of 1500 calories, barring special circumstances in which a few people might need additional calories. We understand everyone’s body and metabolism is unique.
We mindfully determined this amount of calories to ensure we are providing the nutrients needed to offer the best results for the majority of our guests.
What is a typical day like?
Our goal is to help you reach yours. Every day is specifically designed to provide you with the activities, education, nourishment and individualized attention you need to stay motivated in your journey to a healthier life.

- 6:30 am Morning Warm-Up
- 7:00 am Breakfast
- 8:00 am Hike
- 11:00 am Nutrition Lecture
- 12:00 pm Lunch
- 1:00 pm Health Coach Lecture
- 2:00 pm Cardio/Strength/Circuit
- 3:00 pm Snack
- 4:00 pm Pool Class/Aqua Zumba
- 5:00 pm Yoga
- 6:00 pm Dinner
- 7:00 pm Meditation / Relaxation
- 5:00 pm-10:00pm *Spa Services
*Spa Services can be booked through the front desk. One spa service is included in your weekend stay. Extra services can be scheduled for an additional fee.
What is the age limit of our guests?
The Wellfit program is designed for adults ages 18 and older. We can accommodate teens in our program (ages 14-17) but they are required to be accompanied by an adult to all activities.
Please Note: Our resort does not offer childcare services.
What should I pack?
After making your reservation we will send you a detailed packing list to make your preparation for Wellfit Malibu as easy as possible.
Here are a few items we suggest:
- Athletic shoes
- Trail/Hiking shoes
- Camelbak or other hydration pack
- Two pairs of athletic socks per day (moisture wicking fabric)
- One to two pairs of workout clothes per day (washer/dryer onsite)
- Swimwear and goggles
- Casual Clothes
